ABOUT UATE
Welcome to Armenia’s Premiere Tech Ecosystem Hub!
The Union of Advanced Technology Enterprises (UATE) unites 200+ high-tech companies—both local and international—driving Armenia’s technological growth and global competitiveness. As the driving force behind the country’s innovation ecosystem, we connect tech leaders, educators, policymakers, and entrepreneurs to foster a thriving, future-ready industry. Through strategic initiatives, advocacy, and ecosystem-building, we are shaping Armenia into a global tech powerhouse.

DIGITEC
For 20 years, DigiTec has been the region’s largest tech expo, bringing together industry leaders, innovators, and startups. It drives innovation, fosters international collaboration, and accelerates technological advancement, helping local companies expand globally. In 2025, DigiTec will take place on October 10-12, celebrating its 20th anniversary and continuing to shape Armenia’s tech ecosystem. In 2024, the event welcomed over 20,000 visitors, with nearly 200 exhibitors showcasing their innovations.
INNOIJEVAN
InnoIjevan, an educational and innovation hub, was founded in 2022 by UATE. The project aims to bring together local government, businesses, and the community to create a space in Ijevan where education, innovation, and entrepreneurship intersect to drive local development.

ARMATH
At the heart of our efforts is the development of a tech talent pipeline. Through initiatives like Armath Engineering Makerspaces and Innoijevan, UATE is equipping young Armenians with the knowledge, skills, and tools needed to build a successful career in tech. During our educational programs they gain technical expertise and critical thinking to become the new generation of innovators that will lead Armenia’s tech sector.

HISTORY OF UATE
Karen Vardanyan was a pioneer in the high-tech industry in Armenia. A graduate of Yerevan Polytechnic Institute in hydro engineering, he later advanced his studies at Harvard Business School in 2009. Beyond tech, he was a patriot, deeply involved in public and political life, and the creator of three patented inventions.
We had the privilege of having him as UATE’s executive director from 2007. Under his strategic leadership, UATE grew steadily, launching innovative projects that shaped Armenia’s tech landscape. Karen had a bold vision—not just to train a few specialists but to cultivate an IT culture across the entire country.
His passing at 57 was far too soon. His vision, however, continues to inspire and guide us.
